WTB: used set-up for my brother-in-law

Hi fellow RCers. I'm helping my brother find a used set-up. This will be in his living room, so it's got to be furniture quality.

He's open to various sizes and it doesn't need to be turn-key--I'll help him fill in the missing pieces--but he's looking for a high quality system (at a good price!). Glass preferred, but also open to plexi if not scratched.

We're looking primarily for hardware, but if you have livestock to include, we'll also take it into consideration, as I can hold it in one of my systems.

The closer to Alameda, the better.

There is a great deal on a complete Red Sea Reefer 250 on CL. Upgraded Trigger Ruby Elite sump, Radion XR30w Pro X2, MP10wqdx2, Neptune Gold, etc etc. It's not cheap but a good deal.

I would have bought it, it's pretty close to perfect in size BUT it's white.

hi all. Thanks for your interest in helping me get started. I'm debating what size tank to start out with. On the one hand, I feel like keeping a smaller tank around 30 gal. might be good for learning and getting used to how everything works. D-Nak did made a great point about a how a larger tank may be slightly more forgiving if I don't get something quite right as there is more water to cover up an error.

I'd like to start from the beginning, so looking for a tank with stand only for now. Size, I'd like to end up with is a 65 or 75 gallon tank but starting off with a smaller tank is fine too as,i learn. Putting this in the living room. I'd like a reef system, not fish only. I appreciate any helpful tips or leads!

Hi there, I'm looking for I'd be happy starting out with a 65 gal or less. Just looking for the tank and stand for now as I want to cycle the tank myself. I seen new for like 1K -2K but that's a little too rich for my blood. I'm looking about 25% of that. Maybe from some who has grown out of their tank? Is my budget reasonable before live rock and fish?

I think I'm going to go with a 40G cube square or cube shaped tank. Is there a difference in a breeder tank vs. a standard tank? Other than what it is used for, what's the difference? I'm still getting up to speed with the terminology.

When I check out the beginner threads, I maybe bet through a page or two at a time and there are like 100+ pages!
