WTB Vortech MP40

LOL... I find it funny when hobbyists try to find deals on items with MAP pricing. While it's true that there are deals to be found, I think we should expect to pay what we're expected to pay. The LFS isn't in the business to give us deals, they're in it to make money.

It's like driving down a road complaining about the potholes, while complaining about the taxes we pay (which is used to get those potholes fixed).

No one said his hobby was cheap. And an MP40 is a prime example of excess -- I was just talking to my wife about it. She asked me "You spent how much on those things? And what do they do? That's it???" She was quite literally upset for the entire weekend.

Ecotech has has a MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) on all their items... It only has to do with the shop not being able to advertise for less than the MAP.
I find it funny when ANYONE, DOESN'T try to find the best deal on ANYTHING they buy. As stated MAP pricing refers to the advertised price, NOT the sale price. If the LFS or any retailer tells you that he can't offer a better deal...walk out the door! Don't believe that BS that they can't discount because of MAP.

For the record...basically all businesses are in business, to make money...if the LFS wants to make $ and STAY IN BUSINESS, they have to give us deals and be competitive!

FWIW, my family has been in the auto business since the 1920s...as a car wholesaler, I don't want to pay retail, for ANYTHING! I think you'd be quite shocked at what a seller will do, if you just ASK!

yes tats true cuz like i was sayin for grohe product i cant advertise it for less than 35% off list but i can sell it for 80% off list if i want to lose money

i should go get a wholesale permit for animal product so i can start selling all these mp40 lol i think the store pay maybe 225 for each

I guess I should clarify my statement. It's different for certain industries -- I would never pay sticker price for a car. We know that negotiation is part of the process.

The LFS is a completely different animal. I think we all realize that we're going to the LFS primarily to buy livestock. Regarding equipment, everyone knows that the LFS is competing against online stores who may or may not get different price breaks based on quantity purchased. I expect to pay more for hardware I purchase at a LFS, and if I can get it close to what I would pay online, then I consider it a good price, and I feel like I'm helping out the LFS (which is why I suggested folks go to Aquatic Collection to get their Ecotechs).

Finally, the difference is the type of store itself. I'm not going to walk into Home Depot and ask them to discount my faucet. But, I assume it will be okay if I walked into your shop discus510, and asked for a discount on my Grohe.

I know we're getting waaay off topic here. Since the OP got his MP40, I guess it's okay for the peanut gallery to partake in some chatter.

I searched for MP40's and found this thread... anyone out there that can hook an East Coaster up with special pricing + shipping on an MP40?

Please let me know. I've got one LFS here in Columbia, SC and they don't even carry Ecotechs...(????)

u guys do know rite?? LFS isnt suppose to be selling those thing for below 445
ecotech has a price restriction of wat to sell it at. so u guys goin online telling everyone where u guys can get it new for below 445 mite be causing trouble for the petshop u guys buying it from. if another place complains to ecotech joe and karson mite have there dealership revoked meanin they wont be able to get the pump anymore
That was painful to read. I know 13 year old that TEXT better "den dat".

Wouldn't it be more like driving down a freshly repaved street and then complaining about the taxes? If your street is full of potholes, you probably have a right to complain about your taxes.

I love how many experts there are on RC nowadays. If all of you cheap bas**rds knew how little the retailers got to keep for selling vortechs, you would never ask for a discount again. Companies that have MAP usually keep a larger percentage of the final cost. Items like Vortech pump, Tunze pumps, high end skimmers, high end lights, etc... only get like a 20% markup for the retailers. When a retailer is investing $400 on a pump that has a MAP of $480, it might be annoying when an RC guy, that never buys anything else from him, walks in asking for a deal. At $480 you are already getting a deal. Even wonder why so many fish stores went out of business in the last few years? It's because of the RC people that complain about stores that charge retail.

LOL... oops sorry about that. I wrote that quickly. Looks like you got the intent of the message though.

If by "grohe product" you mean grow products, I'm not surprised that's what you sell.

Grohe is a brand of faucet, like Moen or American Standard. Some would consider high-end.

Based on your 'texting' skills, it's hard to tell if you know a 13 year old, or multiple 13 year olds... may we assume that this is NOT your area of expertise?
