WTB Yellow Coral

I am wanting to add some yellow to my tank. My girlfriend wants a yellow tang, but I am slowly convincing her my tank is too small. I am thinking yellow Fiji leather, but would be open for other corals, maybe yellow star polyps but I was wanting something a little bigger. If anyone has some frags, or a whole coral they are willing to part with let me know

Yellow watchman goby? Clown goby?

Both would be great in a 40gal and are inexpensive.

You could then also add some yellow polyps or something too!

I got a Midas Blenny a few months ago. They're yellow, very active, friendly, reef safe and they seem to have a personality. Cool little guys.

yellow wrasse. they are all over and moving constantly. it's a short yellow tang for about $5 more. much better looking than any of the fish so far mentioned in my opinion. oh yeah they are beneficial unlike already mentioned. they sometimes eat parasites of different sorts.

I already have the yellow clown goby, and I dont want to chance having the midas blenny in with my tailspot. The yellow wrasse I am thought might start taking a liking to my cleaner shrimp or hermits. But thanks for all of the suggestions

yellow wrasses pick on cleaner shrimp or hermits? not in the 5 or more I have owned. their mouths don't get very big so they go after small foods .

gotcha. since you are looking for yellow be very careful of yellow. there are not alot of yellow corals in the ocean and many jack ...... will dye them yellow and charge you a premium. they look awesome for a few weeks and then bleach out and if they make it go back to there natural brown.
sometimes you can find a nice yellow scroll coral. not as nice yellow is very common though.

i have a yellow scroll that i got about 2 years ago and the thing is doing awesome. it grows out like a giant hand and has little yellow polyops..

How about yellow softies?

How about yellow softies?

I have a ton of yellow polyps that have colonized my tank. If you're interested it is another way to go.

just thought i would try and post a pic of my yellow scroll good luck in your search

I had been thinking about a scroll, or cauliflower, or if I could find a yellow pagoda that would be awesome. The aquarium store I used to work at would occasionaly get some incredible looking flourescent yellow pagodas.

nice dye job john. wonder if that thing is at least still alive. a real shame what some money grubbing jack butts will do for an extra 20 bucs. tony had to have one of those one time. luckily the store took it back.

Try yellow Gorgonia. Mine is beautiful. Seems to be pretty hardy as far as I've noticed. And it seems to be easy to come across. Good luck.

Venom, how long have you had the gorgonia? I know your not looking for another fish but I second the yellow coris wrasse. They are a great very peaceful fish not to mention they eat zoanthid eating nudibraches. BTW they sleep in the sand so a sand bed is a must. I will always have one in my tank(I have two right now). My other one jumped out so I would cover the tank, wrasses always seem to jump. I have a yellow Bali Acro I got from johns that I can get you a frag of although I call it golden/green now but for the longest time it was yellow until I changed my lights. Also have a yellow digi, porites, trumpet and scroll that are not ready to frag yet. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you can find them somewhere. Anyway good luck in your search and let us know what you come up with.

I knew that they dyed many soft corals like Cladiellas and Sinularias, and lots of anemones. But I wasnt aware of the dying of stonies.... Learn something knew everyday... Thanks for the link John. I havent completly ruled out the coris yet, but was prefering the coral for the larger size that it can attain, while I can only keep smaller fish in my 40 breeder. If not I would have added a yellow tang to get my color and make my girlfriend happy in the process

I second the Yellow Wrasse. I have two and they are wonderful. I think I got lucky and got a male/female because they'll play in the upper part of my tank wrapping around each other. I haven't found a lot online about their mating dance but if it's not they sure are having fun :D

reef I am sure it has something to do with mating. I had a pair that did the same thing. not sure if they were mating already or just practicing but supposedly in the wild that is what alot of wrasses do.

That is very cool. I've been really watching them and trying to learn as much as possible just in case they were mating. Not to "thread-jack" but have you read the book "Fairy & Rainbow Wrasses and Their Relatives" by Rudie H Kuiter? I've been thinking about getting it but I want to make sure it give details about them and not just an overview. I can find basic information online and really would like more detail.
