Broken snail shell is my guess!

Snail operculum.(Trapdoor-like lid) Most likely from a turbo.

Yes it is the trap door from a snail, do a invintory of your snails and U will find a empty snail shell. I usually leave a few empty shells in my tank for future homes for my hermit crabs

Yes, one snail has pass on to the big tank in the sky lol, over time u will have a collection of them, if turbo snails fall off rock work or off the tank glass on to your sand bed they can't flip them selfs back over, I look once a day and save any stranded snails.

looks like its from a turbo. I have a few living ones in my tank.
