WTT: Copperbanded Butterfly

So I have had a Copperbanded Butterfly for about a month now and have been noticing that its staying in the corner and "hiding"....when I herded it to the other side of the tank to see why.....it seems that the usual suspect Strawberry Dottyback is up to his old tricks......I hate that fish!!!! If I could I would catch him, but they are smart little devils and have tried in the past.......I havn't made up my mind completly yet, but who would be interested in trading for this guy if I cant correct the situation? Currently he is in great health and would love to keep him, but probably would die if I don't figure something else out soon, so the most responisble thing to do would be to trade him off.....

Anyone looking to trade?.......I would be looking for a SPS frag ultimatly.......

I will see if I can solve the problem another way....ie catch that dottyback finaly(I think I know which very large rock is his sleeping place)....but if not please let me know if your interested....good healthy fish.......currently....

How big is he? Im in the open market for a sm, to sm-med one. I only have my clown, and 3 chromis now in terms of fish and a reastiblished pod community :D Youve seen my tank though, and would know if he's too big. Seriously considering taking one of the big rocks out, just for that reason, along with allowing for more flow and sand bed.

what have you done to try to trap out the dottyback ? The trap that we made has been successful in catching even the slyest and shyest of our fish (got the design from a thread here on RC). With a little bit of acrylic "skills" and about an hour, the trap could be completed (using only scrap acrylic from Tap Plastics scrap bin). If you are interested I could dig out the thread that I am talking about (we also had a thread of the one we made, but I moved the hosted pictures, so it is pretty much useless :)).

I was thinking more of taking out his very large rock home and putting into the sump where he can be better cornered....the only thing...is is "home rock" has a superman digi, chips acro, ocean blue polyped stylo mounted on it which happens to be below other rocks with pieces I wouldn't really like to chip pieces off of either....basicly its below my "top shelf" stuff....

debating if its worth it, but may take you up on the offfer.....thanks....

Justin.....he is about 2" long.....I think stacking your rock higher and adding a ton more flow would benift you greatly....

FYI look at the barebottom thread pics......his home is the big rock on the left with the teal stag on it.

Not gonna go higher, want the corals to do that ;) After you left I cleaned out my seios so flows up to snuff smartypants:p

Between me and Johns sea hair, we've been doin some major overhaulin with hair, macro and valonia:blown: Prolly gonna post some before and after shots, cuz its like that! havent seen some of this rock devoid of anything for along time, like when I first got it :p

I have a high mountain rock in my corner that betwen it and my surface skimmer box, kills the circulating current. Which was fine because I had another good sized rock that my remaining softies and LPS are on. Trimmed back alot of room in my 30 so I think it's time to get that rock in there(the one with the big rhodactis on it) that'll let some of my return current whip around. I think after this meeting, between me tradin corals away, and donating frags to the club raffle I'll have the space I need to play around with my rockscape, but dont expect a fruitstand from me ;) Im kinda in a two tower mode or less is more, ultimately down the line I want the corals to be my aquascape, not the rock :)

2inches is perfect. If I dont have anything your interested in I'll cough up the dough just let me know :)

It seems our dottyback friend stressed him out too much.....lost him.......swimmin fine one day, hugging the powerhead the next.....

Justin....Those intakes were mighty plugged up.....I hate that about myself, I am so critical about my stuff and point out things like that only trying to help, without realizing how rude I am being while not trying to be, "insert foot in mouth" I used to have a 65 mustang that was really clean, and all people would point out was the little rust bubble I had, made me mad!!!!.....can't wait to see your before and afters you have some cool stuff in your tank that was "hidden"......post some soon....myself, I rearanged my fruitstand because of the dottyback hunt, (really want a cube to solve that, say a 4' x 4' island in the middle of a room will do fine),......but pretty much have to reglue 20 frags back into place.......I might have frags for the swap after all.....

But the tank of the month....CWARD's tank is one of my favorites....thats the type I would like to have.

Thanks, the funeral was brief....I just am bummed because I was trying to do the right thing and get rid of him BEFORE he died.....

I was just razzin you man, cuz you said I need a ton of more flow ;) My main focus before you came was clearing you a space to walk through that weekend  But it did serve as a reminder to get crackin on cleaning my pumps, and I did :) long list of to-do's but had to use the triage method . Which reminds me, I forgot all about cleanin my return... :/ I hate having an insump pump. Gets old man....

Sorry to hear about the loss, trully a fragile fish :(

Regardless......post some picks ASAP.......I might also, new rock arrangement and the fruitstand is almost restocked.

Copperbands pretty much won't eat prepared foods. They eat small feather dusters and aptasia. In other words, things that live in holes that they can stick that long snout into. Unless you have a large tank with a steady supply of aptasia and/or with lots of feather dusters you don't mind loosing I'd stay away from copper bands.
