WTT Tunze 6100

I think this is too much flow for my 75 and might even be too much if I upgrade to a 120. I would take a 6000 and cash to make up the difference. The unit has been used for ~3 months and is in excellent condition. Please pm for inquries.

I already have the 7091 so I was hoping to continue to be able to use that and thus ruling out the 6060 or 6080. I might be open to a 6055, but I am not sure if this will be enough flow for my liking. Thank you for the offer though.

Why are you trying to reduce the flow? if you do not mind me asking.
I have 6100 and the 6060 in my 75 gallon with sps and lps, and sugar size grain sand. My corals love the flow.
With Tunze I have noticed that is a matter of position the pumps in the right spot, and I have mine going across the lenght of the tank, the create a nice wave flowand occasional turbulance. The first time I set them up I had tons of material floating and sand, but after few hrs everything was back on place, and have not seen san flying around since the initial set up.
Good luck with the tank and thi is just my personal experience.

Well its not so much a problem with sandstorm but just a little to much flow overall. Right now I have #1 @ 30% and #2 at 50%. I am a little worried that if I turn it up to 100% it will be way to much. I figured why not downsize a little and actually use the pump to it's fullest, and in the meantime maybe someone needs to upgrade, that was my original thinking. BTW, do you play indoor soccer at all? Sometimes I will squeeze a session or two in during the winter season @BISC.

If you swap out the guard on the 6100 for the one on the 6200, it widens the flow into less of a beam. I did this and used a 6100 in a 40B for a while... the corals loved it.

Otherwise, if you want, PM me with a price on the 6100, Ive been considering adding one more or a 6200 to my 125g.

I personaly have a single 6100 on my 120 gallon. I'm running it at 30% and 100%. I'm sorry I did not go one step up on a pump as it just does not produce the flow I expected.

My long range plan is to swap to a double controler and then add another 6100. Hopefiuly that woll give me more of a noticable cycle to the flow.

When you realy get down to it what is realy too much flow?

Yes I do play indoor soccer at BISC, and also coach kids U11 and U13. Right now we are about to start the second session on Wednesday. I do not have a mens team, but I play with teams that need extra players.
I will recomend you to stay with the Tunze because when you change the flow you are going to miss it.

Thanks for all the input so far. Maybe I will keep the pump for a while and slowly ramp up the power to 100%. Hahn, do you mean just taking off the plastic part to get to the impeller? If so, where would I go about finding that part. I should probably give everybody an idea for what I have flow wise: mag 12 return, hk#2 on the left, and tunze 6100 on the right. The hk#2 and tunze are pointed almost directly at each other. I still have a hk#4 that I am debating about putting on the back of the tank kind of just to the right of the center of the tank. Does everyone point their tunze pumps across the tank lengthwise, or do you try to bounce the flow off the tank walls? Dominga, I will be starting a coed session in 2 weeks to get warmed up for my mens team that we usually do in the spring so maybe I will see you on the field. BTW, when do meetings take place? I am always up for learning new things.

The best way to maintain the flow of the pump is to mount it facing across the tank, perhaps at a diagonal even. This also prevents the sand from getting blown apart as much.

I may decide to stay with the 6100 now that I have the rest of my pumps set just right so the flow isn't causing a sandstorm. At first I thought it was way too much flow, but now I think I am enjoying the ridiculous flow lol. If I decide to downgrade I will definitely let you know. I should be able to make it to the frag swap, never been to one so I'm kinda excited. I very excite!(Borat voice). BTW, any luck selling your 120?

Glad to hear you are coming. Its pretty much Disneyland for reefaholics so it should be a blast. Last year we topped 175 people, this year we are hoping for 200+.

I havent sold my tank yet. Its looking like I am going to be keeping it as I cant lower my price any more than I have. I also need to either sell it by Monday or have the movers put it in my new basement. If its the latter, I think I am going to use it to fool around with another BB SPS tank, havent had one in years. I'll maybe try one of those "miracle" supplements too. I have all the gear for a raging SPS system laying around I just like mixed reefs with tons of fish more. Sandbeds, high bioloads and dirty, muddy fuges have always been my thing.

Anyway, do keep me in mind if you decide you wanna downgrade. My prop tanks can never have enough flow!
