WWC White Tang

hey yall i went to WWC for the first time and after drooling for about 2 hours at all the coral i turned my attention to their infamous white tang...Does anyone else know or seen another one in the trade. How rare are these things and if you could think up a price, what would it be? One of the guys there said they know of another on in Belgium or something like that...it was the COOLESTTTTTT fish i have ever seen, the Black Tang was once my dream fish, now its the White Tang....MY LORD!

we had a 4" one a while back. They seem to pop in numbers and then not for a while... Most, if not all, come from the Big Island of Hawaii.

I have heard that they often turn back to yellow once in captivity a while. I know someone who has had one for a short period of time and got it for the price of a yellow tang. I haven't asked really recently how the color is doing.

I've seen yellow tangs that have white patches. Maybe a variation of that?

Goto large tank forums and look for Mo's reef, he has a tri color one ! yellow, white and blue !

I have a friend that experienced the same problem. Started coloring back up like a coral haha

I'm pretty sure they're just a variant of yellow tangs, I've seen them schooling together while diving, although they're definitely not super common.

Call around to all these huge fish stores, I.E. Live Aquaria, Saltwaterfish, WWC...etc, and give them your number and tell them to call you if any come in, make them take you seriously so they actually will call back.

Yeah I'll call around for sure but what would something run me? I know black tangs are $600-$800, how much would a white one be?

The absence of color is not really my thing, but since I live close to WWC I'll check casper out.

Hard to place an exact price on it, it may be slightly more than a yellow tang, because of its species is a Yellow tang....I think, but I doubt the price will be that low, I would take a wild stab in the Dark and say $1000+?Im probably wrong.
