I just got a small Xenia frag it was shipped to me I have heard they donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t ship well any way it has been in tank almost 48 hour and it looks like the hands or the part that pulses has melted away is it a goner ?Or is that common after shipping stalk still looks the same

You may experienced some polyp bailout leave it alone for awhile xenia are very resilient if the conditions are right they can pull through just about anything.

in agreeance with graveyardworm...

Just curious, is the xenia in your overstocked 55g FOWLR if so could you provide a better description with some water parameters, lighting, and maintenance?

My parameters ph 8.2 ammonia 0 nitrite0 nitrate5.0 temp 79 salt 1.025 5gal water change every week lighting 260w pc it is 55gal tank lightly stocked with 2 clown fish

There isn't a whole lot you can do but watch it..... In a 55 I wouldn't think it dying would be a problem with your water parameters....

If you think its on the way out anyway, why don't you take a sharp pair of scissors and snip off below the part that is wasting away...maybe the other part will heal itself and regrow??? Just a thought?????

Ok it been in tank a few weeks and there are no hand and the first layer has fallen of the stalk for a week now holding steady just a sick little stalk will it rebound ?

It's very possible, I swear you could send one of those through a power head, and all the little pieces would grow new ones. Give it time.

Chances are the shipper did not take proper care prior to shipping xenias. Xenias must be shipped via the float method. If they're not shipped via the float method, then they need to be rinsed multiple times to exhaust their mucous supply. Otherwise, they will suffocate during transit. Your xenia may melt away, but as long as there's a small living tissue left, there's a chance for revival.
