Hi all,

Just bought some Xenia. I've always had trouble with this "beginners" coral. Never had one live longer than a few months.

I've placed it in moderate current, mid level in tank (40gal breeder) and LED lighting.

35ppt, Ca 500, Mg 1300,Nitrate < 20ppm, dk 12

I'm at the 7th week of Vinegar dosing and it's working. Nitrates are really falling.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The sad part about them is they will take over your tank once they do get acclimated. I'd consider what's happening to you a blessing :D

Nice lens for your avatar, what is it and what camera

Thanks. It's a Nikon 50mm 1.8D lens, also called the "nifty fifty".

IMHO the humble 50 1.8D might be the best lens ever produced from a price/value standpoint. It can compete with German glass stopped down and all for 75 bucks used ( and 50 bucks if you hunt around). How can you beat that?!!!(put a aside the bokeh chasing mob).

I've paired down my gear dramatically to just an apsc rig with a few lenses and even sold my 50 1.8D. Just a D7000, 70-300vr,85 1.8g, 35 1.8g and kit lens 18-55. I'm going to upgrade bodies but I'm just not sure yet. Do I really need a D750? Or will a 7200 do just fine? Can't decide. Renting FF when you need it a great way to go.

Glass upgrade is a must but I'm not sure there either.

sold - 105 2.8g vr,50 1.4D(f2 is pleasantly soft), 70-200 tamron, 17-50 tamron, 12-24 tokina,50-150 OS Sigma (superb),55-200, 85 1.8D, 85 1.4 Samyang (sharp with blue cast),50 1.8D.
