Xenia in Caribbean

I don't know what the state of the industry or hobby is in the are this invasive got it's start, but the starting point is home to a major shipping shipping base and a naval base. Makes it hard to rule out the old fashioned common means of spread and solely pin the blame on the aquarium industry.

I can't imagine venezuela has that many hobby reef tanks, maybe a few shark tanks via the local crime syndicates.

I agree the jump to blame the aquarium hobby without providing any supporting evidence is ill-considered. Regardless, this is scary stuff.

Thanks for digging up the original article. Be curious what leads them to think it was introduced by "commercial aquarists", other than xenia being common in aquariums.

Ditto to what Bill said. We all know how much Venezuela is a "hot bed" of commercial coral farming!

IIRC its rather hard to export MO into that VZ. I suspect bilge myself.
