Xenia on Squamosa

When I bought my squamosa 8 months ago I noticed after several days that a single xenia polyp was attached to one of the flukes on the side of the clam. Well after 8 months I have a full blown colony covering 2/3's of one side of my clam. It appears that the clam is not extending it's mantle as far as it once did without the hitchhikers. Do any of you guys have any experience with xenia on the shells of your clams? Should I try to "scrape" off the xenias, or will the clam get used to its new guests?

Thanks.

I had the same problem and am abotu to have it happen again on a dersea, I take an exacto and scrap it off. Make sure you get ALL of it, grows back with a vengance.
