Xenia Taking Over

My Pulsing Xenia is reproducing like crazy. If I don't do something soon they will take over the tank. Can I start trimming them like roses?

I rip them out by the stalk directly in areas I don't want them to grow. I'll usually follow up smaller growths with a toothbrush. It works well for me.

People also have success with kalk applied with a syringe.

Yup, trim away! I just use a pair of scissors.

Stuff grows like weeds. Started to run a reactor and GFO and all my xenia shriveled up.
Before that I just took the scissors too them like everyone else.

If you just cut them with a pair of scissors they will grow right back. You have to make sure you pull them off completely, even a tiny piece left behind will grow.

Agreed with RA. They will grow from the smallest bit left. Contain them before they go crazy. To kill them off after you have scissored them off I'd take some boiling RO/DI water in a syringe and shoot at the remaining tissue. The stalks that you cut off can be stuck to a piece of small rubble with rubber band. You can then sell these frags or trade in at LFS.
