xenia vs hair algae

i got some xenia the other day and it had some hair algae on it. I picked as much of as i could, but i can still see some sticking to the rock, if i was to put the rock in my sump with no light, would the xenia outlive the algae with no light? then i csn just put it back in my dt

do you have any tangs? if so dont worry about it they ll eat the alge. you can also try an emeral crab or a turbo snail they sometimes eat it

just stick it in the display, if you're water parameters are up to par and the Xenia is happy in your tank it'll overgrow the algae before the algae has a chance to grow, if it's not happy in your tank it'll melt in a few days and you can pull the rock out and toss it in your sump then.

+1 on water perams. If they are as they should be the xenia will thrive and the algae will die off. Having a decent cleanup crew should do the job even before the algae dies
