I bought some pulsating xenia today and I put it in my nano (10 gal), and they're open, but not pulsating, is there something wrong with my water?

were they pulsing at the store? I've also heard that not all Xenia will pulse under all conditions.

This is true at least in my experience. I got some pulsing xenia, that was pulsing when I got it. However it has all but stopped pulsing in my tank. It seems to be growing and happy, so it must have to do with the lighting, water movement conditions. They went from 250W to 400W MH and from Low Flow to Moderate Flow.

Seriously, mine vary as to whatever they feel like doing. Right now in my little 10 gal, I have two stalks of xenia in there and at this very moment one of them is pulsing like crazy while the other just has the heads open and is simply blowing around a little in the current, not really pulsing at all.

Mine don't pulse if they're in strong flow, but they go crazy if I shut off the pump.
