XM bulbs on their way out?

I'm having trouble finding my mainstay 250w SE XM 20K at my usual online shopping places. I noticed a lot of sales on the other versions of XM bulbs.

Did I miss something? Are these bulbs on their way out?

Im not sure about xm bulbs but another good choice to try is the hamilton 20k, they have a look like the radiums.

many halides are out of production, radiums went out last year. most of it was the energy act of 2007. incandescents and nearly all halides no longer meet the efficiency per watt standards. its worth buying a few of your favorites so you don't have to deal with the price gouging later.

I have an old PFO ballast, it is not HQI - will it light the hamiltons? I've been told my ballast isn't right for the radiums, and I've had trouble running Reeflux bulbs when they first came out several years ago.

I've thought about buying a new ballast, but at this point if I'm having trouble locating the bulbs I'm not sure its worth investing any more money in the system... but I want to stick with my halides...

That, or find a bulb you like that is produced by Giesemann and Hamilton. As long as they produce fixtures, they will produce bulbs. A lot of poelpe have been switching back too, so we could see a spike in production.
