I have a xmas wrasse for about 2 years now and I just transferred it to a larger tank this past Sat and it was swimming about then went into the sand bed which is normal, then on Sun I saw it come out for abit and then it dived back in the sand and haven't seen it on Mon and im abit worried, any ideas why this is happening or am I just over reacting and it just needs time to adjust to the new surroundings?

hes adjusting and will be fine, when i move mine it takes 2 weeks usually before he starts swimming around and eating again

It'd be good to tell us what established fish are already in the larger tank. He's probably re-adjusting, but could also be hiding from an aggressive tank mate.

I had a wrasse go missing for about a month before he finally came out. I thought for sure he had died somewhere in the rock work.

sorry for not giving the details in the larger tank there is a true perc and a female flame wrasse and they were all from the tank the xmas wrasse came from so they should all be familar with each other by now since I had them for over 2 years. just an update haven't seen it today either but i could tell that the sand was moved in some areas so probably it was out during the day when i was away at work or something. can it survive being burried int he sand all this time?

he will be fine and is just using the sand bed as a safe zone ,as it is in nature . let him be and soon he will be a model citizen within your aquarium .
