Just a heads up on my MSX 200.

The sump area that it is in is a 12x13 area and it is snug so anything smaller i don't think will work if bigger you are golden

Been about a week and a half since the last time I emptied and cleaned my MSX250......

Did I mention this thing pulls out some NASTY gunk ?!?!?!

This thing is by far my best decision so far on this tank setup. :D

badazztealcobra - is your 250 sitting in a 75gal sump / 18" wide? Can you tell how much of the 18" it is taking up?

I'm still trying to figure out if I can fit a MSX300 in 18" wide sump.

My first section that the MSX250 is in is 17" X 18". It takes up the full 17", but it has some room on the tank width side. I would think you could fit the 300 into it, but you would have to make it longer on the one side where the pumps and the discharge is. Maybe 18" x 20".....

And YES, I definitely scrubbed my hands down. :D

Great photo of the skimmer in the sump. Can some post a photo of a MSX 200 in the sump with measurements. I have a 30 gallon as a sump, with the skimmer section 12" long. Will a MSX 200 fit?

Is there any tank ratings so to speak yet? Wondering how much a MSX300 can handle.
300,000 gallons. On these skimmers, you just take the number and multiply it by 1,000. ;)

so they arrived to the store? and they will mod it sometimes this weekend and then send it out at the beginning of the week and we should get it within next week? so excited i can put my tank together now

I want the MSX 200 for my 120G.

Is the 200 a good size for a 120g (150 total system volume)? The 250 wouldn't fit too well.

The area underneath my stand is kinda short too (26" tall and a 17" tall 40g breeder sump/fuge).

So my problem would be that it will be difficult to pull the whole skimmer out to clean but I could probably do it once a year or so. IS it easy to get the the pump out to clean more often if needed?

Thanks.

Mark

Woohoo... just joined the club  ... I took the plunge and ordered the MSX300. :eek1:

I just talked to Joe (owner of MarineSolutioncInc) a few minutes ago and he opened up a 300 to take some measurements for me, so here they are... the much awaited dimensions on the MSX300 as per Joe:

Height: 23 1/2 "
Body Diameter: 12"
Neck Diameter (ID): 5 7/16"
Powered by two Sicce PSK-2500 meshwheel pumps
Footprint: 13" x 17"

It seems that the larger diameter body keeps the angle of the pumps down a little so the footprint isn't as wide as I expected. Joe said they'll have some pics of it up soon (hopefully today)... but if you're looking to get one, you might want to act quick since they only received about 8 of them and I believe I bought #4.

Big D

I want the 250 but only have 11 inches wide to work with, is the footprint really 16 by 16? the length i am fine with. Anyone have any ideas on what to do? Maybe running a seperate sump/ rubbermaid container.

whew good thing i ordered before they came in they got more expensivE!!! although 10 bucks is relative : ). im very excited for the 160 i ordered ive been encouraged by all the posts on this thread.

Woot, new owner here!!

... After seeing Big_D'd post, I talked with Joe and ordered the 300. Now I have to get working on the new sump for it.

Thanks Big_D!
