xtrstangx's 120g BB thread

So 120g it is. I did a better estimate and it came back to $600-700 which is a lot more than I want to spend.

Anyways, I'm planning on going with a 120g non-RR.. going to drill it with an external durso overflow, I think.

Meanwhile, in my 40g, my clam died today... :(

Max

Sorry to hear Max, what kind of clam was it?

You'll like the 120, alot. I got quite a bit of new SPS so hopefully this weekend my rock will be done "quick-cooking" so I can put it in. I switched back to the Radiums, the 10k bulbs started getting pink which I really didn't like. You may want to get the Reeflux 12k's on the RF e-ballast.

Pink you say? I have 2 110w Actinics and another ballast and endcaps to add another 220w (just gotta get a special molex connector) Maybe that will help balance it out?

Well not sure, I think the pink'ness of the Reeflux 10k's are due to the inconsistencies in CV's mfg.

BTW I got my ACIII setup tonight, man its sweet. I like being able to turn on lights and what not from my computer. :)

Well... Few more changes.

Definately getting a 180g. I went to the store almost ready to buy my 120g and it didn't look that much bigger. Not worth the money to upgrade from a 4 ft tank to a 4 ft tank, huh? So the 180g it is.

I got my 2 of my 3 lighting setups. Reeflux 10K's run on Reef Fanatic e-ballasts in a Reef Optix 1 reflector.

I picked up my Oceans Motions Super Squirt today. Should be a fun toy (as well as 4 buckets of IO and some VHO actinics)

Tonight hopefully we will put the sink in the fish room. My mom got a new sink for the kitchen and I'm getting a 18 month old nice sink for my fish room.. Big 33" 2 section sink so I can have one side full of vinegar cleaning parts and the other side can still be used for cleaning and such.

The RO/DI got mounted and I put my DI canisters vertical.

Perhaps I'll make a new thread:
- 75g DSB
- 120g BB
- 180g BB
- 120g BB
- 180g BB

A few changes, huh? And to be honest, I'm thinking about getting some sand... only 1/8"-1/4" thick and it would probably be 1-2 mm size. It would mostly get blown around I bet and would hide behind the rockwork, but I think it'd make it look a bit more natural.

So what are the dimensions, is it custom? internal or external O/F? Center or Euro? Have you ordered/paid for it? Or is it going to change again. :D

Oh no! The Dark SIDE! :D

6'x2'x2'

Not custom, but its made by a custom manufacturer.

Internal overflow for sure. Not sure if I want to do an overflow box or an external durso.. Probably an overflow box. The whole thing is untempered so I can drill wherever.

It has a center brace.

Not ordered or paid for, but it pretty much has my name on it.

Not gonna change.

You'll be happy you went 180 instead . My 120 lasted a little over a year before I outgrew it and had to have atleast 6ft . I can say I am happy with my 180sps and I still have my other tanks with softies to enjoy. That 2 ft make a world of difference.

clkwrk, mind posting a pic of your tank?

We almost got the sink put in tonight. We had to run to Home Depot and get some last minute supplies... But the new kitchen sink is in and running.

No prob

Thanks! Yeah I am almost Tunzed out . Although I will get a few of the controllable nanos. But I have been teased about the 6300 streams @8000gph each

So I broke my leg over the weekend.. I have to be on crutches for 3 months. This means I can't work for 3 months. So I'm trying to decide what I want to do.. I could find another job for 3 months where I don't have to stand/move around.

No money for 3 months... so I'd be able to get the tank up and running and be able to stock it just a little bit.

Also I won't be able to work on the fish room. So my dad has to finish it all himself.

Definately a major setback.. SOrry if my post didn't make complete sense, I'm pretty tired from the painkillers.
