the MSDS can be found here

looks real white in water. I put 4" in a 5 gallon pail with tankwater and small powerhead and will test water quality in the morning.

well going with Ah64av8tor idea with the pulverized limestone I found a local stone yard that has bags of limestone sand 5.75 for 90 lbs looks good after washing. as for the vinear test, 1 gal disolved 1/2 cup of sand to less than a teaspoon in 1 hour.
He also has a pile of coral slabs that are 4" thick.

It is a verry fine sand after you wash it. by that I mean with this cup I put the sand in the cup, let it run under the sink with the water running as slow as it will go until the water runns clear took about two min with the cup. I have a 5g pail 1/2 full running under the hose outside for 20 min and it is starting to run clear.
I am going to fill the pail with saltwater and run a small powerhead for a few hrs then I will test phosphates.

As for the bag, they bag it themselves you should be able to get limestone sand at any stoneyard. they also have the pulverized limestone but it has small chunks in it.

Where did you get it???
I asked in the Reef Chemistry Forum about the effects of limestone sand on the reef. We'll see.

My only question about the limestone has to do with Alk and Ca. Lime powder is used to raise Alk and Ca. Will the sand dissolve too quickly under normal reef conditions and cause an increase in Alk and Ca???

Sunkool Thanks for all the leg work. It should be good and not raise your Ca and Alk unless the ph drops to 7 then you have other trouble.

let us know the Address when you get it.

6:00 same readings as above
We have limestone mines in Hernando and Pasco county so I doubt it is of the Suwannee area. That is way north of here. How could one check for arsenic in reef water?
