"the closed loop should be higher GPH no? Closed loop only has plumbing loss, not head loss which is only the case for a sump return."
Well, I can't mount it at the top of the tank, it will be mounted roughly 3' below the top of the tank which is must draw from and push to, so there is some head loss.
If you think about it, the water volume is pushing down into the pump, no matter how far the pump is below the tank, so you have water pressure down acting as a normal force. It's all one body of water, so you're not going to get headloss from the height of the pump. My Sequence DART at 3600gph after losses will be like 3400gph at 7 feet vertical travel only due to my plumbing. The force you're using with the pump to push upwards is the gravity*mass of of the water, but coming into the pump is water, which is pushed down by gravity: gravity*mass, thus your forces are normalized. No headloss, only plumbing loss in a closed loop. That's physics, I know you hate it, I love it =)
look for the long florescent lights section / huge florescent fixture section. It's in the lighting section with the huge display of lights and stuff. Perhaps call ahead? I know for a fact the El Cerrito one has them.I know for a fact that Home Depot here in Emeryville has no such beast as you describe, because I was looking for something like that to keep snails out of my overflow in the Nanocube. Also, the staff is of now help, I literally searched the floor back and forth. So, if I go, what department would I look in? Sprinklers, garden? Does it come on a roll or in sheets? I just don't want to drive all the way out there and then not get when I went for.
I think i'll try with the two outputs. I think it will work. I'm working on a sketch right now in 3-d using Google SketchUp. It's neat, but like anything a little learning curve. Hopefully I can have something that shows what i'm talking about soon.
Thanks a bunch! Sketch to come soon...
