As for the Cap if you place it close or glue it to the overflow/glass it will grow. Once it starts to encrust watch out. It will take over if you let it. Every few months I break off 6-8"

Ok so now it's time for some obvious questions:

Water params?
Salt Mix?
What are you dosing and how do you dose it?

I have not tested in some time. So not really sure. Now days I go off how the tank looks. If it starts to look "off" then I would test.

For salt I use Kent salt and do 20% every other week.

I dose Kalk thru a Reactor. I just put the reactor on line a month ago. Before that I ran Kalk thru a ATO. Hope this helps.

What is all of the blue encrusting stuff?

Really pretty color.

They are blue clove polyps/waving hand polyps. They do a good job of covering rock work and don't seem to bother SPS at all, mine just run right over it.
