Yellow Acropora Suharsonoi placement...

I've read that this is a deeper water coral. I've got a 90gal tank with a 6x54 T5 setup. Where would you recommend as far as placement goes, or does it matter?

Most of the so called deep water acros aren't really from deep water; it just means they have smooth skin. Acropora Suharsonoi, however, is naturally found in lower reef slopes so I would start them from lower half of the tank. Most acros are fairly adoptive when it comes to lighting as long as you accumulate them slowly.

+1. Start them in medium light with a soft flow and them work the acro up. As you get this particular species closer to the light, the yellow turns to neon. Just make sure to do it slowly like dzhuo said.

I'll have to see if I can find a picture of a frag for you that I had when I was propagating at a nice rate. Defiantly my personal most favorite coral that I imported.

Here is a pic of mine that I picked up about 1.5 weeks ago. I just moved it up to the final place on the rocks and it is getting about 250 PAR. Hopefully it will settle in and be happy there. Was looking locally for several months for one of these and got this one for a great price.

I’ve had mine 8” under a 14k 250 watt and it started losing tissue. I currently have it on the sand of my 24” tall 120 and it’s in between led’s and 39 watt T5’s. While growth hasn’t been crazy its color has never looked better.

Very few stores import "high-maintenance" corals like deepwater Acropora. It is most soft and LPS corals at our LFS. But I have finally obtained a Suharsonoi. It's a wilder from Indonesia:bdaysmile:

Got it yesterday. It's a turquise color in the base from above. I hope it will color out and be blueish. But we'll see. What do you think about this one?
