Yellow Candy Hogfish - Thoughts

I have a 105 rimless running with a few zoas a small hammer small torch and a Duncan that grows like a weed. Fish wise I have a sailfin tang that is being removed now that I know he should be in a bigger tank. A snowflake clown, a shrimp goby combo, a stripped neon blue goby and a starry Benny who owns the joint. I love inverts and have 2 cleaner shrimp 2 peppermint shrimp and a Pom Pom crab who I actually see once a week.

As I remove the tang I want to add the hog fish I am reading mixed reviews online. Some say it is a perfect fish mate others say it will attack and eat my shrimp.

I was hoping some current or past owners of this beautiful fish can weigh in with personal experiences?

Thank you!

Never owned one personally, but I've heard they can be kinda like mystery wrasses in that they may go after small shrimp like peppermints as they get bigger. More likely if the shrimp are added afterwards.

I have had one for about a year maybe a little longer. He can get a bit feisty on occasion, nothing really bad. I did have a couple cleaner shrimp but I can't say for sure he took it or some of my other fish did or they just died. Overall he minds his own business.
