Yellow candy hogfish

no not really. I put one in a 50 gallon reef and within 10 days he managed to kill a tanaka wrasse which I had for several years, and attempt to terrorize a small flasher wrasse which comes out when the hogfish is otherwise preoccupied. Pretty fish, active swimmer but seems to be aggressive toward whatever is smaller , slower , and a grass eater.

My *** first *** reef fish ever.
As dendrite said, it was the devil's spawn. Good citizen at first though. Don't buy it unless you have a big tank.

I have 58 gallon....Currently it's in quarantine tank with Starry Blenny and Cave Basslet.
Nothing happening, pretty shy if you ask me.Damn, now i don't know what to do....

I had one for about a year before he went carpet surfing (I've since gotten a proper lid)
I never witnessed him intentionally go after anyone. However one time during feeding he bumped into my female clown and she pecked at him.... she never made that mistake again....

I have a large tank and mine still terrorizes the other wrasses. Only ones much, much larger get left alone.

He's on borrowed time...

I have a redstripe/candy-cane hogfish. Had him for over a year now. He's pretty chill with my existing fish (mel. wrasse, clowns, flame hawk, purple firefish, damsel), but did NOT like me trying to add a new wrasse. I had to bring the wrasse back to the store because he wasn't having it. And since I still have him, I guess I'd rather have him than the ability to add new fish. Really cool fish, always active and doing something interesting.
