Hi i have a 65 gal reef and i was planning to get a yellow clown goby because i love the way they perch on corals and such. But i have a few questions
1. is the yellow clown goby reef safe
2. will it pick on anything. corals...fish....inverts???
3. will anything pick on it.... types of fish, crabs, etc...
4. should i get it
if you have former experience that would be great
THANKS

Yes, they are reef safe but may nip at some of your SPS corals if you have any, but generally are reef safe. It won't bother any other fish besides for it's own kind unless you get a pair to mate up.

They'll eat SPS polyps, which I don't consider reef safe. The only reason they are classified as reef safe seems to be because they are small enough to not do serious damage as long as the corals are large enough. I've seen people with mature tanks keep them because they are not capable of harming the larger colonies, and I've also seen people claim that their nipping was responsible for the deaths of SPS frags. Not much should pick on it, but I would only get one if you have no SPS or if your SPS colonies are large enough to tolerate the damage a yellow clown goby will do.
