Yellow eye Tang with sores near tail fin

I have a yellow eye tang that I just noticed has a sore near his tail fin on both sides of his body. It's about where the tail meets the body. I'll try to take a photo but he is extremely fast. I've had him for about 2 months and the tank has been set up for about 8months. It's 125 gallons, 6feet long. Any ideas for what it might be (sorry no pictures)? And is it worth moving him to a quarantine/hospital tank to avoid spreading anything to my other fish? I worry the move to a smaller tank might stress him and make things even worse.

Your fish is fine. Don't worry. It's its scalpels. I also freaked out and called for help. Not too long ago. Apparently tangs are surgeonfish and have these modified vertebrae that are weapons.

Thank you! I just fed the tank and then noticed it so maybe he's trying to defend his territory. I introduced a couple new fish recently so he might be trying to claim his turf. Thanks again!
