Yellow Gorgonian Feeding & Care

I recently rescued a yellow gorgonian from a LFS . The owner didn't even know it was non-photosynthetic. This is my second NPS in my 75g mixed reef, the other being a sun polyp. The sun polyp is easy enough to feed, however the gorgonian I'm a little more intimidated by. What foods would be best to feed this? Currently I'm using a mix of frozen rotifers and live baby brine shrimp. I was also curious how it reacts to lighting levels. I have it on the sandbed under 6 t5 lamps. Does it prefer lower light levels than this? I also know it needs high waterflow, and I have a 750gph powerhead on a wavemaker pointed at it about 8" away. Is that enough waterflow?

I'm monitoring it carefully and so far it is doing better than when I found it, but if I feel it's not doing well in my care I may have to donate it to someone who has a better setup for it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have little experience with this type of gorgonian but I know it's one of the best first gorgonians and is a relatively forgiving gorgonian.
Also check out the sticky on here about NPS corals. That's where I go for quick info about corals I know little about.

Good luck

Good to know it's one of the easier ones. I've read through other threads on the forum, just wanted to get a little more specific feedback on my strategy. Thanks for the help.

The lighting doesn't matter, but being in the shade helps prevent algae growth on it. The foods you use are appropriate, but the amount and frequency are more challenging.

It hasn't gotten a lot of algae growth on it surprisingly, but I think that may be related to the water flow. And I can agree with you on the amount and frequency of feeding. I usually just snow globe the tank with food late at night when the polyps are out. They don't seem to come out during the day, otherwise I would feed multiple times per day.
