Hi all, had a thread going for fish not eating here:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=22284096#post22284096
but just today I noticed some possible specs/dots growing on my little guy and thought it might be ich so after trying to get a good look at him (hes pretty shy around us) we removed him from the display and threw him back in the QT.
1. How old is this aquarium?
3+ years
2. If less than six months old, what is ammonia level?
NA
3. What is SG of this aquarium? How measured?
1.025 refracto
4. When was the last fish added to this aquarium?
1/5/2014, the tang
5. Was it quarantined? If so, how? And how long? Was it prophylactically treated? How?
QT'd by us for 1 week. Usually QT 2+ weeks but he was scared/not eating so thought moving to display might help. In hindsight, probably a stupid decision. No treatments.
6. If you are using a copper based medication, which one? How often do you measure level? When?
None, but have available
7. If you are using hyposalinity, how did you calibrate your refractometer?
NA
8. Please describe in detail, the appearance of the fish? If there is one or more pimples, are they lumpy? What color?
No pimples but a couple clearish/white tiny specs possibly forming on the fins. Don't see anything near the gills, or anything else particularly wrong.
9. Please describe the behavior of the fish as best you can. Is it acting reclusive? Is it always up towards the top of the aquarium? Is it avoiding light? How active is the fish?
Personality has actually improved quite a bit over time in the main display. Still scared of humans - but doesn't dart away the moment we enter the room any more. Doesn't mind the other fish one bit (dwarf angel, clowns, goby, etc). Does not usually elevate above the halfway mark in the aquarium and does not avoid light.
10. Is the fish eating? What?
Maybe. Does not take pellets or frozen. Have seen him occasionally nip at algae growing in the tank but I have not seen him "munch" or "chow down" like i would think he would. Placed nori in the tank (via clip and rubberbanded to rocks) and haven't had much success with that either. A couple pieces of nori disappeared in QT but it could have been to flow - normally leave it in for about a day.
Pictures in the other thread, I can try and take more but due to the shy nature I'm not sure we can get anything much better :\
