Yellow Leather Toadstool vs Hammer

They are close now, after growing out for six months....they seems ok except the toadstool doesn't open the polyps in proximity to the hammer and curls up slightly. I have seen the hammer send out one stinger briefly, but retracted it after touching the toadstool. Can I leave them be or do I need to separate them.

I had a leather and a frogspawn in that kind of situation for a long time and saw just what you said- the few inches of toadstool closest to the frog stayed closed all the time. I eventually just trimmed back the leather. I would suggest seperating them one way or another; if nothing else it is added stress on the corals- may not kill them, but can affect their growth. I imagine that kind of aggervation would make the leather release higher than normal amounts of toxins into the tank, which could affect Everybody in there.
