yellow longnose butterflyfish

Thank you. Anything someone should know before getting one?

Get one in good condition with no bruises or red spots. If from your lfs, make sure it is eating well. Some eat right away, and some are hard to get to eat. I have one in my QT right now and all it eats are live brine shrimp and live blackworms. I have tried fresh clam, scallop, mysis shrimp, Rod's, 2 types of pellets, and flakes. Its appetite seems to be picking up so I hope it starts eating other foods soon.

I have one and guess I got lucky, eats frozen from day one. Gets right in the middle of all the hawgs. Has not bothered anything. Good citizen.

Do these guys ever get to where they eat pellets? My LFS is kinda far, and getting frozen food is not always feasible. I may make my own again, but still..convenience, ya know?

I already feed the tiny pellets because I have some small fish.

I have two... one eats pellets and flake, the other still won't. I've had them for a while now.

I had one that would eat pellets that had settled in the substrate. But they never even tried to eat them in the water column. If you have any other fish in the tank that like pellets more than likely the LNB will never get any.

My larger one eats pellets aggressively out of the water column. The smaller one that doesn't was in the same tank for a long time with the larger one, so unfotunately, at least in this case, learning from other fish seems to not be a factor. Size might be though?

Whats a good size tank for a long nose butterfly? 125 or larger?
