yellow polyps acting strange

hey,

well i just got a nice rock of yellow polyps about a week ago. they were opened up nicely the first few days but now they dont open and seem to be "stretching toward the light. I have a tek light 6-54w system. i placed them on the sandbed figuring that i might actually have to much light. all water params are normal...the only thing a little bit off was the ph at 8.0.

any suggestions? should i move em up? i thought it would be to much light for them.

thanks

my yellow polyps like to grow on the side of my rock work, but don't really grow too close to the light (t5's and pc's), so I'm thinking that they don't like too bright of light. They do always seem to be reaching up to it though. And they love when I blast cyclopeeze at them.

hm so your saying to move em back a bit in more of a shadey area? i guess them reaching toward the light is just normal?

thanks

thanks...i moved them into a more shadey area a couple hours ago. there still laboring to open up. ill give them some more time and see what happens.

thanks guys

If they look like the ones in Reef Junkie's link...... I have many of them. Growing everywhere (I hate them actually). Some are high on the side of the tank close to the light (250W XM's). I have noticed they look bad when my water param's are bad. I use them as sorta a guide to water changes, when I neglect my tank for awhile.

Well, if they are them, they are a pest coral imo.
Sell them on Ebay or give them to someone at a LIRA meeting.
Some of those members would take a load of donkey poop if it were free. :lmao: jk

ill take some for my 300 kev.

i have no real light on the tank ATM and they would love it.

and its free like bill said so load me up

HEY!! Did I miss out on that Donkey Poo auction???

speaking of poo, did anyone see the new Barbie out for christmas holidays?? Its called "Barbie & Tanner" it comes with a retriever type dog which you feed it round biscuits.
you then pull it's tail and it poops. 3 pulls = 3 poops.
then you pick the poo up with a magnetic pooper scooper and put it in a garbage can (pooper scooper and garbage can come with the doll).

Chuck,
I saw that commercial and it's one of the most disturbing toys I have seen in a long time.

Next will be the Barbie Milking Horses at the Stud farm doll.

lol you guys are to funny...there separated from the rocks and everything. there by themselves on the sandbed so they wont become a pest and take over the rock.

well see...i might bring em tot he meeting.

Kevin, can you either confirm or deny that the picture I posted above is them or not?

Dude, if they are just give them away at the meeting. I'll give you some nice polyps from my tank when they're ready, ok?

sorry bill yeah thats them! thanks alot.

tiredness from school and soccer is killin me! lol

but yeah i tihnk im gonna bring these to the meeting.

Kev. keep them.. They can't be that bad if your told to give them to another LIRA member, and even keith wants them.. then again Keith will take anything with the word "free" attached to it..

keep them on a seperate small rock like you have them if they get out of hand you can remove the rock. Bill probably means that if they get on a main rock or glass they can become a real pain.. then again so can kenya trees, gsp, green button polyps, finger corals, colt corals and yes bill even zoa's ...
