Yellow polyps

I have three large colonies of yellow polyps. They have been thriving ... looking like a South Dakota wheat field... all of a sudden, one colony has all of its tenticles pulled in... the others are waving, each of these are about the size of a softball. Water params are dead on, al other livestock is doing great, including the other yellows.

The weird thing is i have two colonies that are right next to each other... one is open, the other is closed up... puzzeled.

thoughts?

ive seen that alot in the "yellow zoanthids" although from my understanding there not zoas. Ive seen where they will be growing like wildfire and the next day all of them closed up?? Id love to hear some ideas on this.

Parazoanthus sp.

My first thought is that something picked at a polyp on the one rrock, causing the colony to act as one, resulting in them closing. A lot of times when this happens with zoas though, other zoa colonies will close as well.
