Hi does anyone know if these can be housed in a 80lt. ??

Could I have 2 or a small shoal of 3-4?

Tank is being built but is going to be 24" by 16" and 13" height. Plenty of live rock as it mentions for them to have and will be stocking on corals.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Your tanks footprint could really only sustain a single pair of Orange Stripe Cardinals.

They are very easy to keep, feed, and breed. The males are not too aggressive towards the females.

You will really like them....

Thanks Barracuda,

Any obvious way of telling between the 2 sexes?
When you say only 2 is that because of the species aggression or bioload of waste they produce? With a pair of these could I keep anything else in there other than shrimps?

Difficult to sex without an experienced eye and not always that accurate.

Generally Cardinal fish are territorial with various degrees of aggression dependent upon species. Orange Stripes have moderate tolerability for their conspecifics. Orange Stripes really only shoal when they are small juveniles.

I would suggest that a 40g would be a minimum for two pairs.

A single or pair would be a nice fit for your tank. Remember they can get up to 2.5 / 3.0 inches in aquariums.

There are other Cardinal options out there, even though the Orange Stripes are a very nice fish.

You can keep other peaceful reef fish with the Cardinals in your tank. You could keep gobies, sleepers, blenies, flasher wrasse, dartfish, etc.

Cool thanks for the advice they are definotely on my list.
So what happens if I end up with 2 males or females? Will they show constant aggression?

I would imagine adding them together would be best idea, but would it be best adding them as first fish in the tank?

Really appreciate the advice, thanks.
