Yellow stuff on lr

So this yellow stuff has been on my lr since I bought it. Live rock has Been in my tank for about a month. It looks almost kinda spongey or fluffy. Any ideas?

That's what I thought. It hasn't gotten bigger but it looks kinda puffed out like algae or sponge but never heard of yellow algae. It hasn't spread but it is covering a decent part. Should I be worried if it starts spreading?

Looks like sponges to me also. Only negative is it isn't the most pretty thing to look at, but is actually beneficial to the tank by being a filter feeder.

Up to you whether you want to leave it or scrape it off. Won't affect anything either way.

Well I'm glad he is helping in a way with keeping clean but should I be worried if he starts taking over the whole rock?

Still nothing to worry about if you are okay with having a yellow rock. You mentioned that it doesn't appear to be spreading. If you want to put corals there then definitely remove it or at least the area where you want your coral to go and hope it doesn't spread back and grow onto your coral.

Cool. Well don't plan on putting corals in there as its my first tank. I'm just trying to figure out this whole saltwater thing lol

It isn't any worse to look at than old dead rock. Most sponges are very hard to keep in a marine aquarium. I'd leave it and only deal with it if it spreads and becomes a problem. Sponges are very good for keeping tank water cleaner.

So as I've watched the "sponge" grow, I've noticed little tubes coming out all over the place. They are clear and almost looks like a tube worm port but no worm. I can't get pics cause it's to blurry just wondering if anyone had ideas. Anything would help

Yup, still sounds like a harmless sponge... They take all different forms and colors. Do a search on Google for "Yellow Sponge Reef Tank" and see if it looks like any of those.
