Yellow sun coral

So i jsut walked in to my lfs this morning and saw this awesome bright red-orange-yellow coral. I immeadiately told the guy I wanted it and he bagged it up. Apparently I missed the part where he told me and my girlfriend how much they were. 150 for the small frag and 250 for the large frags. They are now acclamating in the tank as I type.

Are you sure they aren't dendrophyllia? The price range sound more like it.

Well Thats the thing. I was so obsessed with having it and the guy (whom i talk with on a week to week basis and is very coral savy) from the lfs said it would fit with every thing in my tank. I think I was suffering from post traumatic stress dissorder after I herd how much it cost, I dont recall what it was called nor do I recall him telling me the price. I'll post a picture after i feed it later this evening U can ID it for me. That would be great!

sorry, There coloring was so mezmerizing after he said they would go in my tank, I started to visualize where I would put them, and din't here how much they were or the name.

I think surfsharkus knew exactly what he was getting! Whose going to pay 150 and 250 respectively for some frags of sun coralish things unless he knows it was a dendro.

You mean dendronephthya right?

Nope, dendronepthya is a different coral. The one you have is Dendrophyllia coccinea. They're in the same family as tubastrea sun corals.

Here's a pic of one of my colonies. There's about 25 polyps on it.

Feed it a lot and it'll grow like mad!

surfsharkus, once you start feeding yours, they will get big and fat with long tentacles. mysis soaked with selcon is really good.

You mentioned 2 frags......I see only one frag unless you put them together?
