so my yellow tang which was the first fish in the tank , and had for about 9 months. all of the sudden is hiding in the back of the rock wit the occasional peak out of his cove. and hes not eating his pellets and flake food which he destroyed.

if i drop nori down by his cave he will eat it ... but thats it. can he live just off nori?

i dont know what the deal is , to act like this all of the sudden hes fat and healthy... nothing has changed. other then adding a few corals.all the to the top of the rock.

he used to alway be out swimming with the foxface.

the tank is a 90 gal. lots of rock with caves. lives with a clown a fox face, 3 bangais, and a black chromis and watchman gobie.

water and all is good. its my daughters favorite fish i dont want him to get weak and die.

he just seems so spooked.

Yes, it can live off nori, they're herbivores. Maybe the foxface is giving it a hard time? My thinking for this is both fish are similar in shape. If you have a quarantine tank, maybe you could move the foxface and see how the tang responds?

no the foxface and him are tight they wouldnt go anywhere without each other.they swim together chill together, eat togther, and if anything the foxface is a big wuss...

i have a black chromis ,that harasses the bangais a bit here and there but thats it, and hes been in there for over 7 months.

How long has he been hiding, my yt did the same for a week with no explanation because NOTHING had changed for months. Then I got a regal and he came out and has never hidden again
