Does anyone have experience with keeping a yellow tang trio? I have read you must have more than two and they must all be introduced at the same time.

Trio will leave a odd man out imo I have 5 in my 300 no issues until I rearrange the rock and they will tussle for a few days then back to normal, I introduced them all at the same time and 4 have grown bigger than 1

I had a trio of yellow tangs. It was highly recommended to me to do this because the shape of my tank and the fact that they would be introduced at the same time.

Well, it didn't work for a few reasons:
1- There was an existing Purple tang in the tank already and he chased the yellows nonstop but the yellows chased each other constantly too.
2- All the yellows were of the same size. I think it would have been smarter to add 3 different size yellows at the same time and no Purple tang.
3- My tank is 300g and circular where they can swim nonstop but I still think the tank was not big enough for 3 yellows, they are just too aggressive.
4- They pretty much killed every single fish I added afterwards by stressing them out, chasing them and not letting them eat etc.... Must be the last fish added period.

Labo - there were not a few reasons - there was one reason -

There was an existing Purple tang in the tank

300 g is not a big tank - one zebrasoma in there is it

Sorry to say, 3 yellow tangs in your tank won't work. The tank isn't large enough. Doesn't matter if they are added together, different sizes, same size, or if they came from Mars. Just won't work out.

Didn't we go through this before though?
