Yellow tang trio

So Id like to do something interesting with fish in my tank. I have a large sohal, a small hippo tang, and thats about it for large fish in my 220. Its plenty large to have a couple more fish. Im considering doing a trio of yellow tangs. Is this feasable? Anyone have any experience with this? Whats the possibility for success if they are all the same size introduced the same day? Thought of adding 2 more hippos, but since him and the sohal are acanthurus figured the likelihood for problems were increased. Thanks.

I did the same thing without any luck.
Mine don't leave each other alone and will break the trio and probably keep only one.

Walvis what size tank did you try a trio of yellow tangs. I have also been thinking about adding a trio to my 180. I am hoping to find 3 small tangs, I figured I would have better success with juveniles.

I have three with a purple, scopes, kole and a rabbit. I keep them well fed and thy are fine..occasional territory arguments but they have been together for years?

You should be fine if you get the three at the same

I have 3 (3") in my 600g and they get along most of the time. One of them is kind of nasty and will occasionally go after the other two. I dont think I would try it in a 210g tank. You might be ok for awhile but in my opinion you will eventually have problems. Your tank is not going to be big enough for multiple hippos either (they get big). Sohals can be very aggressive and need a really big tank... keep an eye on him.

300g
It must be my luck, because I've seen many reefers keeping multiple specimens in DT.
BTW, mine are Juv.

I have three yellow tangs. One was originally in the tank and added two more. Rearranged some of the rock. Now have no problems!

i have 4 yellow tang,2 blue hippo ,1 naso blonde,1 puple,1 sailfin in my 240 for 2 years, they r fine, naso blonde and blue hippo get too big, i upgrade to 400gallon 5month ago, they r perfectly fine

My sohal is a grump. Everyone has learned to stay out of his way. As long as they all submit to his reign he could care less about anyone. I guess I will pass on the trio.

On to my next bad idea. Think a powder blue would be ok?

I have a trio in mine 144 gallon, added one about a year in, then added the other two sametime, friends ever since!!

A friend of mine has a trio of yellow tangs and a lavender tang in one of her frag systems, but it's huge--probably about 600-700 gallons.
