Yellow Tang with Blue Tang?

I know tangs are pretty aggressive, but since the "Dori" tangs look so different from the yellow tangs, will they be aggressive towards each other? it sucks that I can only keep one tang in an aquarium.

Is this in a 46?? If so , please remove the Tang you have now and find it a more appropriate sized home...NO Tang belongs in a tank that size

agree with the above statements, but to answer your question a yellow and blue tang can get along just fine in an appropriate sized tank!

I have a blue tang and a yellow that get along fine. Mine are in a 55 now but they will get a bigger home soon.:bounce1:

I have a yellow tang in a 55 FO tank and another yellow in my 46 gal bowfront. the LFS had the cutest baby blue tangs that were the size of a half dollar... are my tangs doomed since they're in such a small tank? I can't get yet another aquarium! i'll get in trouble! LOL
They look happy now but I guess i'll have to find a home for them later. I live in florida, the reef is just a few miles away if push comes to shove.

Don't be taking them to the ocean in Florida. Now if you want to go to fiji or hawaii,,,,

If they are very very small, you "can" get away with it for a year or so. But if you have no intention of going with a larger tank, don't do it. You're probably good for up to 3 inches, maybe 4 inches in size. LFS's will take them but they'll just sell them to someone else with too small of a tank so I don't know that's really ethical either. Best bet, bigger tank or a friend that has a big tank.

I'd personally hold off on buying those tiny blue tangs - they are just so finicky and delicate. I suggest spending extra money and get a bigger specimen. JME

Also, I had a Yellow tang in my old 55... he was ok, but when he got transferred to the 150, his overall swimming habit changed a LOT. He is now more active and socializes well with other tangs.

Umm.. are you thinking about releasing it to the open ocean? (hint: don't do it) :eek2:
