Yellow tang with brown/ red splotches

Hello all! the other day I noticed my tang was breathing rather rapidly. This was unusual for him and so I decided to keep an eye on him.

Yesterday I discovered brown/ red spotches on him and his face. All other fish in the tank are acting healthy and well, got one fish going through TTM atm, so the tank is getting a 10% change every 3 days... so I doubt its water quality.

Just to be sure though, all tests report no ammonia and very low nitrates.

Some bad pics of it

Look just bellow the eye

and about mid body.

Here is an extreme image I found that looks like the same stuff. not my photo

Am I correct in diagnosing it as infection? should I wait and see if it clears in another day or so? or should I treat?

Cheers,
Lars

Looks bacterial to me, triple sulfa should take care of it. In the future the fish disease forum could be more helpful.

Since medication can be difficult and usually requires quarantine, it's important they get the right diet. They need a really high quality food for herbivores and they need to be eating multiple times per day. It's also helpful to add nori through a lettuce clip so it can graze. In the wild they eat all day long and are much fatter than the ones in aquariums. The right diet can help fight off various infections and bacterial disease.
