I'm sorry to hear about the firefish.
At this point I would reccomend watching the other fish and inverts in your tank for /any/ sign of strange behaviour. You could have brought something home with the tang that might burn your tank if you're not careful.
Keep feeding as normal and get the quarentine tank cycling again, because those things are insane useful. After that, just keep an eye on your main tank and hope for the best.

Edit: There is no surefire way to tell if a tank is 'safe' but if you cleaned it well and allow it to cycle properly it should be perfectly fine as a quarentine tank. Generally I wouldn't put a substrate in a Q tank, because nasty things can go and live in it. Ick included. Just a filter, cleaned regularly but not so much as to destroy the bacteria colony, and some water movement and simple lighting should make for a fine Q tank. These things just happen some times, you know?
