Yellow Watchman Goby Questions

For those of you with a yellow watchman goby, how much does it eat?

Does it get most of it's nutrition from gulping the sand?

I ask because when I put mysis shrimp in the tank, it usually only eats a couple of pieces. Whereas my clown is a pig.

I see the goby go around and take a few mouthfuls of sand and dump it back out. I assume he's getting some nutrients from that?

My goby is pretty small, maybe a couple inches long

about the asnd. watch his gills you will see the sand falling from hem, their hunting for left over food. how big is it. mine is about 3 in and i will eat anything i put in.

mine eats everything I put in and it eats alot. Use sinking pellets and a baster to make sure food gets down to him before the other fish eat it.

Mine eats anything - I've seen it primarily going for the sinking pellets, but won't hesitate on any frozen food either.

I've only seen it filter sand through its gills for the first time this month. I've had the goby for four months.

I am considering a yellow watchman goby for my 150gal tank. I only have about 1.5" ~ 2" of arogonite on the bottom, no fine sand. Do you think this will be OK? or is fine sand a must?

How much nutrition he's getting from sand depends on the age of the sandbed. Try medium grade pellet. He'll be happy with that.
