I added one of these little guys yesterday. He has great coloration and I'm glad to have been able to pick up a wonderful specimen!

My first real question about this guy is if there is a way to persuade him to burrow where I would like him to? Or will he just kind of pick wherever he is comfortable?

Also, how long do these guys take to get a little more daring and venture into the open a bit more? Think my guy just isn't used to his new home yet so he's been hiding a LOT.

IME they prefer being underground. If they are ever out swimming around, there's a problem. And no you can't force him to build his cave where you want him to. Some people say you can encourage him to build in a certain area by releasing him there when you first add him to the tank. I tried that and one of his cave entrances is still in that corner but he has entrances all over the tank, so it may be coincidence. My YWG along with his shrimp partner, seem to have built tunnels under the entire tank. Mine usually makes an appearance first thing in the morning and then sometimes in the evening, but only for a couple minutes. They are a fun fish.

Mine rarely strays more than 6 inches from his den.
It's in a cave, so I can kinda see him, sometimes.
Been 4 months, so i doubt mine will ever get over his shyness.
Good luck with yours.

Thanks a ton. He's been patrolling the bottom of the tank quite a ways from his cave that he's adopted as home since I made this thread. Turning out to be a pretty daring little dude.Still kinda shy when I poke my head up to the tank to take a look at him, though! lol
