Yellowhead eggs

"Umm fish?"

I _thought_ this guy had eggs last week, but I only got one peek at them and never saw them again. He has much more confidence this time.

A great end to a truly rotten week.

Thanks, Gresh! Did you lose eggs or Papa?

I have a nice, big larval tub with lots and lots of rots just waiting for something fun like this....

BTW, Gresh. I hate to tell you, but I lost the seahorse papa this week (got his head stuck :( ), so no more Comes experiments for a while. The OF bottles make great small fish traps, though. Caught a female sixline out of the overflow with one the other day. :)

Yep after seeing this on MOFIB I thought I would see if you posted here too. You go with your bad self Andy. Good luck with these guys. With so many people with some many jawfish it sure would be nice to see some babies. I got my fingers crossed for ya too.

Thanks, Amy. Sorry about the lost photos. I'm upgrading the server tonight. They should be back tomorrow. (Hopefully with larvae photos. :) )

Andy I'm just in all with how great the pics are. I can't take a good fish pic to save my life. And I really am excited about this. It would inspire so many people if these larvae made it............no pressure though.......haha.

Thanks, Amy! No collection last night. Either I missed them, something got them in the collector, dad ate them or dad's still holding. Hopefully the last. They still had pretty good sized yolk sacs, so I'm still hopeful.

Well good luck and if nothing else you have some darn good pics. And if for some reason you missed them I really do think you will get them again.

Andy I lost papa and a few days later I lost momma. I never could figure out why :(

They actually spawned twice, but the first one I think he ended up eating them after a sixline wouldn't stop pestering him. I finally was able to get the sixline out one hook and line (smallest mustard hook with barbs removed - no bait, just a shiny gold hook to entice him). They spawned again wihtin a month or so IIRC. That was years ago though so I could be wrong on timing :)

LOL Andy ! FWIW I've lost 3 Nox angels in 3 days. I may have to change my user name on MOFIB if this keeps up. I think we all may be mentally ill. I just try not to think about the money that is wasted on sick fish. But what can you do ....... just dust yourself off I guess.

Amy

Oh, Amy. Sorry. I _love_ the Nox angels, too. I've always wanted a pair.

Still nothing in the collector this morning, BTW. I wasn't expecting any hatches last night, but still.

Thanks Andy. Well I still have my male (Johnny Noxville ....to make you laugh) and one female. But who knows if she will make it (brook...shipping stress). And I'll keep trying no matter what. I'm luckier than most ( I think you know what I mean ) so it's not a big deal ......just a pain in the butt. And I'm sorry about the larvae. But in two to four weeks you should get another shot. My blue spots were 3 to four weeks between nest fwiw. So maybe about a month in between is the norm for jawfish ???

Amy

He's definitely in-between, as he's now doing all of the housekeeping chores--like cleaning out the burrow--that he'd been neglecting. The female just did a major overhaul of her place: She moved all of the sand out from around the bigger rocks, rearranged everything, and then moved all the sand back. I'm never going to have clear water.... :) Not that clear water has ever really been my goal, but still.

how close are the burrows for the male and female? do you have a little distance shot? great pics and great work good luck

Can't take a photo at the moment because my lovely bride is nursing a migraine. But here's one that gives you an idea. Sorry about the focus. The burrows are only 2-3" apart. The shells in the right foreground are the beginning of her burrow.
