WoW  your tank looks absolutely amazing man, I feel inspired. The corals you have in your tank, are they mainly soft corals?

Amazing work!
cheers

Soft and LPS... Plus one Clam. :)

Heck yeah buddy! You're welcome any time! :D

Jeez Eric, that looks even better thanit did 12 days ago. We are heading to Anthony's store on Friday. I hope I don't have to spend any more money, but I do need to stock this 33 cube.

Looking good.....

Please dont think I'm trying to shoot down your idea and designs....

Roughly 17g tank w/ water = 141lbs
Add in the lbs of rock and sand

I wouldnt rely on those brackets. I'd hate to see that come crashing down.

I know they rated to hold 500lbs... it just scares me looking at that tank up there. Just my $.02.... you do whatever you like.

Very good selection of corals... looks very nice!

Not trying to shoot it down? What do you call it? The brackets are rated to 500lbs each that's 1500lbs of support for under 180lbs of wieght. They are powder coated steel, so the brackets won't fail. Each bracket has 3 2" lag bolts holding them to a 2x6. You think 180lbs will do anything to 3 2x6's bolted in three places 8" apart? Exactly where is this system supposed to fail?

No need to tell me that.

I think it scares you because you lack an imagination for physics. Keep on truckin' Eric!

Thanks bud, actually I think it's his imagination that leads him to think that the physics involved will fail. :D

man, your zoanthids make me salivate. Thanks for the motivation to keep blowing cash on corals :D

Glad to hear it, let's keep the economy running. ;)

Here's some links to some more pics, I didn't shrink these down so I'm not going to post them.

Thanks for letting me check out your nano today! Man that thing looks awesome! I love the brightness and colors those T5s provide. Very well designed. I can still put a receptacle outlet up there so you wont have any cords dangling. Just got to cover the tank so sheet rock dust doesnt get in there. Shouldnt take more than 30 min to do. LMK bro and we can schedule it early next year.

Thanks bud, I think I'll hold off for now, I'm still hoping to get the basement finished soon and then I can set up my super long nano's. ;) Once they are setup, this one will be coming down. I promised my wife I would have all the aquariums in the basement so it would look funny to see an outlet 6' up a wall. LOL!

hey you forgot something.

the enjoy it give you = is pricesless :)

man you make want to take pics of the tank. i hope i get a new digital camera for x-mas this year...come on santa( i hope she read this)

Wow this is a very neat tank. I am impressed. I have worked with acrylic and its tough. I was going through this thread and I was just wondering why you made the black plexi removable? This is a great build I love DIY and you sure did it well!

-Odd

Thanks Kase! I hope you get the camera you want. :)

Odd, I made the black pannel removable so I can clean it with ease. I can't use a magnet and with the rock work in front of it I can't use a pad. The sand will end up getting in the way but I have a plan for that already. When I pull the pannel to clean (haven't had to do it yet but it's starting to get dirty) I'll cut a little off the bottom for the sand and then put stoppers on the top to keep it from falling too low. ;)

Guess I'll post an update, I traded my Goniopora, and fish (watchman and blenny) yesterday... I still need to find some replacement corals as last week's fish/coral shippments came in dead at the LFS's due to the blizzard in Colorado last week... Sad news is that we are supposed to get hit again tonight. Oh well, I have loads of Florida rics and a couple more Acan Lords coming next weekend and I'll find some more stuff to fill in the Goni gap by then too.
