Great looking tank, it is truly a work of bio-art. Are you using RO\DI water? Also, any substrate or macro in the sump, or just the HOB inserts? BOL in the competition.

Thanks Mark, I am using RO/DI and the sump is barebottom, it only has chaeto in both sides and a couple weeks ago I even pulled the filterpads/carbon, so far so good, everything still looks great and even the little problem algae I had growing seems to have reversed...

Can you post a pic that shows how you have the lighting mounted over the top, and how you eventually addressed the cords that were hanging?

Wow!!! I just spent over an hour reading through this whole post. Amazing is all I can say. I'm looking into buying a 12 gal nano cube and wondering what you would recommend as far as live rock and sand to start with. Thanks Eric.

Thanks, I keep the canopy open about an inch (by sliding it forward) to allow air to circulate... Come summer I may need to install some fans, but I already have them ready to go if I need them.

The cords are bundled together on one corner then drop straight down the wall to the timer behind the Futon.

Thanks, any live rock will work, I happened to use Fiji as I had it curing in a trashcan in my basement from a previous tank. What ever you use, I would recommend curing/cooking it for 4-6 weeks in a blacked out trash can before putting it in your nano. I've done it on my last two tanks and on other peoples tanks I build/setup and don't even have a diatom bloom to clean up. As for sand I recommend Aragonite Sand to help buffer pH, no need to spend the money on live sand, your live rock will seed it.

No problem Mark, there are some cheaper RO/DI units out there now and I'm sure they would do just as good of job. Bottom line: you're looking to get your water to 0 TDS, you can get there numerous ways.
