Yet another Angel question

Obviously the more space for them the better, but I'm looking for someone to give me any personal experience tips they can.

Will a juvie passer *or* juvie queen be safe to put in with an existing flame angel?

Yes, I know, one is a Centropyge and the other two Holocanthus, so they *should* be okay, but as juvies, the queen and passer have similar markings.

Just to be clear, I don't plan on getting both. Either one, as a juvie, will always be similar in size markings to the flame.

Thoughts?

I had very minor issues adding a juvenile queen with an existing flame angel. Flame did some occasional chasing for a while but nothing serious. Once they were moved into a new tank years later the adult queen finally became dominant. But never any serious harassing between the two.

Both the passer and queen will be aggressive as they grow larger. What size tank are we talking about?

yes, I'm definitely aware of the aggressive tendencies, particularly with the passer. We're in the planning stages of what I would like to be something in the 400 gal range in the basement while my wife wants to go with 180-240ish.

I just want to get them as small as I can and watch them grow, hence the question about similarly marked Large with a Dwarf of the same size.

Wait until you get the large tank.

+1 the larger the tank, the more planning and more money it costs you to setup. Trying to rush things in this hobby only ends badly. There is a huge difference in a 400g tank and a 240g tank even though you're only talking 160g. Don't underestimate the time, effort and money that go into large tanks

Thanks for the all the replies. I understand the setups/requirements for the fish and have no intention of rushing to get anything before the time is right. The queen or passer would likely be the last fish to put in this particular tank. You know "the last tank I'm going to get, after this one, I'm all set."

But part of the preparation is asking questions like these well ahead of time so that there's a plan. ;)

I would like to see you pick a tank that is at least 240 for either the queen or the passer, due to adult size and aggressive behavior.

At this tank size, I would be surprised to see any issues with a dwarf angel.
