Yet another ID

I have not run across anything that looks like this. This stuff grows fairly well but more on the slow side. it is hard, breaks of in clumps, yet can be brittle. any ideas?

It looks like a kind of bubble algae (valonia) to me. Here's a link covering several Valonia species
