Holy heck! Did I make a mistake? I just added a medium size blue hippo into my 150 gallon long tank with a all ready existing "much smaller" clown tang! Yikes!! I can't watch any more so I quickly turned to light off! (of course I will hovering over it later with my flash light! Lol)
I didn't realize what a jerk my clown tang was! My yellow tang doesn't seem to have any issues...

Has anyone else had this issue? Will it subside? I'm a total dork and feel so horrible so my blue tang! :( granted they have only been in there together for 3 hrs!

Don't worry, if there is a knock at the door... It is just the tang police! You have an ocean in your house, there is a lot of nature at work. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!

I was worried when I added a second 5-6 inch Blue hippo tang in to my 250 gal dt with a smaller blue hippo, and a sail fin tang, naso tang.

to my surprise no problems...

I figured there would be some sort of fighting, but there wasnt.

Clown tangs, powder blues and sohals can be scrappy. By tomorrow I'm sure your clown and blue will be best of friends.

Tangs are picky and territorial. I found that out with a powder blue, lavender and blonde naso. YIKES - my hippo hid for days and the powder blue try to eat everyone! It settled after a few days but then about a week later my lavendar "disappeared" so I think he was killed and then eaten within a matter of hours by the clean up crew - I will never know and the blonde naso died from stress. So next time we add tangs, we will buy all the tangs at one time and put them in the tank.

Another thought - try and remove all your tangs and place in a large bucket for a few hours together then place them back in a dark tank together at one time. This causes a bit of confusion from all of them and they tend to behave themselves - especially if you redecorate the tank (move rock) while they are in the bucket. The hard part is catching all of them!

Watch them over the next few days and let us know if there is a change. If not, since I don't have any tangs - I can offer a good home to your hippo. Just PM me.
