I had to shave my beard today because of safety protocol at the refinery I worked at.

You can't wear a respirator if you have a gangly beard apparently.

That's okay, Logik, Rams and I will have some in depth intelligent talk on YIM.

We know your wife types all of your post for you Stu.

i work around pretty nasty stuff but when we got fitted for respirator they told us to keep our facial hair atleast shaved short.

They had a diagram on the wall, I could have a little wuss bag trottman moustache or nothing at all, I was handed a 1 bladed bic and expired shaving cream that came out flat with no c02.

They were making NH4NO3 at the place I was at.

i have to wear them when making repairs to bag houses that collect all smoke and dust were molten metal is cast into big metal slabs. Plus work in really nice dark holes and confined space with air meters lots of fun

I like those air meters !

Beep beep beep, get the hell out !

Does your place do all metals or just ones that are typically machined ? Any odd or rare alloys or metals ?

olin brass makes brass, copper, nickel alloys for ammunition electronic computer stuff, biggest customer US mint, canadian mint, mexican mint, automotive industry and housing industry so were not doing good right now. I've seen armed agents bring in scrap money to melt down pretty interesting, i got all kinds of ammunition from winchester that are blank shells like .050 caliber shells,. I'm a maintenance machinist so anything mechanical thats breaks i trouble shoot and fix, they poor metal roll it slit it and anneals, and have punch presses for ammo.

were becoming more efficient now so i am being trained and schooled on becoming pipefitter, welder, millwright, already machinist and welder by trade. Instead of hiring more were cross training to work in all areas except electrical except a few like me who get duty level II electrical training to work in electrical substations.

olin has many patents on different alloys and has these high performance alloys for special things, most metal in ethernet cables and computer chips have are metal.
